The Leauge
I made Kerry and Jeffers watch the pilot of this show last night, and it was hilarious. Maybe the purest bro comedy on TV. It comes on after It’s Always Sunny on FX, but I don’t really know what that means because I just ninjavideo that shit anyway.
Paul Scheer is the best, his character is super funny. Rob Huebel makes a nice little cameo, and I hope his character gets some more screentime in coming episodes. It’s super watchable, with great jibs, and really funny inside jokes about fantasy football geeks.
I might check this out. I find it totally weird though that “mumblecore” pioneer Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton of The Puffy Chair fame are on this. I hope this isn’t filmed with shoddy DV cameras and feature drawn-out Cassavettes inspired dialogue about Chad Ocho Cinco.
Ed. Note: I did enjoy The Puffy Chair though.

Disc-O-Teen (TV)
1967
Airing from 1965 to 1967, Disc-O-Teen was a live teen dance show hosted by “Cool Ghoul” Zacherley on New York City’s first commercial UHF station, WNJU-TV Channel 47. Like a low budget American Bandstand, the show would have bands come on every day but instead of a live performance, they just played their songs in the background so they wouldn’t have to pay the band’s performance fees. Brilliant!
Check out homies The Box Tops on the show while their hit “The Letter” plays and costumed mod chicks dance to it. I wish they still did TV shows like this. This is on some Ed Wood borderline genius level type shit. So surreal.
