So about 2 yrs ago when I used to have a Blogspot account, I planned on starting a mixtape project where random people make good old mixtapes (obviously not actual cassettes but CD’s) complete with hand-made cover art and everything and just mail it to each other. I never really figured out how to organize it but if anyone’s down, I would love to start this up (again). Yeah you can save time and money by just uploading a mix online BUT nothing beats receiving hand-written snail mail, especially if it’s a mix CD. DJ Premier Malcolm McLaren Tribute Mix!

This makes me so happy DJ Premier did this. Only Malcolm (or present-day Diplo era club DJ’s) can be responsible for a mix combining “I Want Candy”, “Owner Of A Lonely Heart”, and “Anarchy in the UK”…with KRS-One. It’s kinda sad hearing this though and realizing it’s an end of an era. I highly doubt anyone will come close to Malcolm’s genius in terms of genre-mashing and innovation. As they said in the end of this mix, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Punk rock and post-punk aside, Malcolm was also a legend in hip-hop.

#JEWISHRAPNAMES - THE MIXTAPE: KINGS OF SCHLOCK

So the past few days on Twitter there was a highly amusing trending topic called #jewishrapnames. The concept, simple: take a rapper’s name and add or substitute a word with Jewish puns.

It should be noted I’m not even remotely Jewish but I thought it was hilarious and came up with: Nicki Mi-nosh, Ultrameshugganetic MC’s, Andreidel 3000, and Invisibl Skrtch Shekelz. You get the idea. At one point even Samantha Ronson and DJ A-Trak jumped in with some names of their own.
